GSRAW Adoption
Process
1.
Potential adopter sends an application to GSRAW.
This can be completed and submitted online, or printed out and sent to us
by US Mail. 2.
The application is reviewed by an experienced GSRAW adoption specialist
and the applicant is contacted via telephone or email. 3.
Upon reviewing and approving an application, a home visit is set up.
One or two GSRAW members will come to your home to meet your family,
other pets, and generally evaluate where the potential adopted dog will be
living to ensure that this is a good home for the dog. 4. After the home check is completed and approved, an appointment will be made with the foster family and your family to meet the dog. Most foster homes require that the entire family and any other dogs residing with that family be present for the "meet and greet." 5.
Generally, the foster family makes the ultimate decision as to
whether this dog will fit with this family.
We believe that this is the best approach, foster home
generally knows the dog best and will have the most accurate thoughts on whether
or not this placement would be in the best interest of the dog. 6.
If steps 1-5 are completed and satisfactory, then the adopter will set up
a date to pick up their new family member! ** Because we are dealing with live
animals and people, these rules cannot and will not be set in stone.
GSRAW is always looking out for the best interests of the dogs, and
reserves the right to refuse any adoption application. |
