Harley

Hey Sharon,

Sorry it took me so long to get back - this was a very busy weekend and I didn't even see your message until 10:00 last night!

Harley's doing great of course - I was quite surprised yesterday morning actually. I've let him roam the house now at night and when I'm away, since he's been so good. Well, yesterday morning, I sat up in bed, and
Harley had snuck upstairs and was staring at me! Pretty amazing, since he hadn't got up more than about 3 steps before freaking out a bit. He did that on his own!

Well, the bigger challenge was that now, he had to get back down. That took a good 45 minutes or so, and the poor guy was shaking and whimpering the whole time, but it's hard to go potty from the second
story! :) Eventually, with some treats and his favorite squeak toy, he managed to do it. Now, of course, that's all he can do is show how bravehe is - up and down, up and down.

One of my cats has been following him a lot, and she secretly likes him I think. Well yesterday, when they were both in the kitchen, she took an opportunity to get on her back feet and rub against his chest. I think
this confused him, because whenever HE makes the approach, she hisses (and has swatted him a couple times), so he needs to learn that the cat will come to him, but not the other way around. :)

Anyway, he's getting desensitized to the car now, since the past few rides were to go for a walk on the hiking trail, but it still makes him a bit nervous, but again, that's what treats are for. :) He's already
beginning to fill out a bit. He starts training next Tuesday, and I'm hoping that within a few weeks I'll be able to start doing even a bit more with him once we've built up some more listening and trust.

I've got guests coming this weekend, I'll make SURE one of them snaps a pic first thing Friday for the website. :) We've just not had a whole lot of people time the past week I'm afraid.

Feel free to call/write anytime you'd like an update.

Dave
