Hi Ann: First off, thank you for letting me bring Reena home on the 26th of December. She seemed to settle in to the house quite easily. It was proven as I almost tripped over her twice when she was laying beside me while I was trying to make supper! Amanda has her room arranged so there is a large open space on the carpet for the big quilt that we have for Reena. Her bed also has an extra blanket on it for when Reena decides she wants to sleep there. The quilt seems to travel to the living room so there is a soft place for her to lay while we watch some tv. Of course as you can see from the photos, if there is a warm chair that is vacant - it won't be for long! Reena will also move to sleep on Zeus's sofa. I am amazed at how small she is compared to my big sweet boy was. He took up more than 1/2 the sofa - she just takes up maybe 1/3 of it. She is about 69 pounds and the vet would like to see her about 80 to 85. She has started heartworm medication and will be on it year round from now on. The other night we went on a walk around the edge of our 5 acres. She was pretty tired when we got home, so we won't go that far again until she gets a bit stronger and gets her muscles used to a bit of activity. Figure by spring she will be getting walked before I go to work and after I get home. Once her license comes, and it is light a lot longer, we can take her to the dog park that is about 15 minutes away. Reena can literally smile when you talk to her, so I think she is happy that we chose her. She wants to play with the kitties, but they are not too sure of her yet. If they don't hiss, it is fine. If they do, the chase is on! It will take a little time. They grew up with Zeus and were used to how mellow he was. I expect that one day, in the not to distant future, they will be washing Reena's face and ears the same way they did Zeus's. Reena is also quite taken with the horses. She has been nose to nose with them (fence in between of course) while on a leash. She was good and didn't bark, but you could see her trying to figure out just what those big things were! Don has already started to sneak her pieces of cheese when he thinks no one is looking, so I know he likes her too. Thank you again for letting us bring Reena into our family.
