Here's a Happy Endings story on Apache (fna Dragon), who never made the GSRAW "Adoptable" list as he was adopted by his foster Mom. Apache was a coated GSD "mix" (according to the paperwork) that came in from Missouri on 1/22/10. He was an owner surrender and with very mixed emotions, I offered to foster him. After loosing 3 of my GSD boys within 39 days of each other (the last being on 1/15/10), I wasn't sure if I ever wanted to see another GSD again much less foster one!! I was so overwhelmed with grief I didn't know which way was up for a while. My house was so empty, as was my heart, and the silence was deafening. For some reason, I got to thinking that there are GSDs out there that have lost their families too and maybe if I started fostering some of these poor lost fur-babies, it would fill my house and help me to move on. So, on January 22nd, 2010, I picked up a dog named "Dragon". My roommate, came with me to pick him up and was actually the one who took him from the transporter. She later told me that she knew he wasn't going anywhere as soon as she grabbed the leash?!?! I, on the other hand was skeptical and had NO PLANS on keeping him! He walked into the house like he belonged there; we introduced Prada to Dragon and they both acted like they knew each other forever and it was no big deal! Dragon seemed like just a happy go lucky, laid back kind of a guy UNTIL.... He started to relax a little bit more. Then he seemed to have taken on bits and pieces of each of my boys but, added his personality, if you will, to this mix AND.... WHAT A GUY!!!! HE'S A HOOT!!!. He is like a "Big Old Mook" and is doing great. He has brought so much joy to the house it's unbelievable. What timing - it's scary - especially since I NEVER wanted to look at another dog EVER AGAIN after loosing my precious Sentar!. Apache (Mook) is an absolute canine clown and every day he does "something" to make us laugh! He LOVES Prada and they really play well together. He just loves to run with her in the back yard; is convinced he is a "lap dog" and tackles ya when he "thinks" he needs some LOV'IN!. Bottom line here is he is a Bull in a China Closet! I can't tell you how many times he has fallen off my bed from rolling around and acting silly! YA CAN'T HELP LOVING THIS BIG FUR BALL! I have been telling my friends about him and it's almost turned into a Blog - The Adventures of "The Mook" or "Living with a Big "MOOK"! I laugh just looking at him! (he's probably laughing when he looks at me too). The the worse part of this whole thing is he answers to Mook! Not Dragon, not Apache but Mook! Oh Boy! Thank you GSRAW (Jo) for bringing him into the Rescue, letting me foster and adopt him; Thank God for bringing him into my world when I needed him most and Thank you "Mook" for being All That and More, PLUS a Bag of Chips (maybe a six pack of beer too)! ?
