Barron
Hello-
Just wanted to give everyone at GSRAW an update on our wonderful dog, Barron (or as he is also known "B",
"Mr. B", or "Bear").  He is great!  He has fit into our family beautifully.  He loves all people (especially his kids), our old Coonhound--I think he even likes our cat, though I am not so sure the feeling is mutual:)  The first few days he was definitely confused (he even had some accidents in the house) but he quickly assimilated. He still has some separation anxiety, but I think it is improving.  We currently have to crate him when we leave for more than a few minutes, but are hoping that this will eventually pass with time.  He also seems afraid to get in the car, (though is okay once he is riding) but we hope this too will pass with time.

Currently, Barron spends most days alternating between sleeping in our king size bed and laying on his back with his feet in the air "holding up the wall."  He also loves to run around in the yard on his LONG leash. He is VERY loving-loves to give kisses, hugs, put his head in your lap, lay at your feet, give paw-even jump up on your lap!  My husband even carries him around like a baby and he loves it!  He is so smart-he knows the basic commands-sit, paw, come, lay down, and stay, though whether he will comply is another matter! We have even seen him open doors with his snout and paw. Oh, and did I mention he hardly ever barks?

He LOVES our two boys.  Our older son seems to be "his master"-he hooks "B" up to his leash and walks "his police dog" around our home-they "patrol, looking for bad guys." He also "herds" our younger one when he gets away from us.  It is so cute! He has never shown any aggression-he seems to be more submissive.  He does have some bad habits that we are still working on-mainly stealing toys/dolls/blankets/sippy cups/magazines, and counter/sink surfing.  He also likes to play in the sandbox/chew sandbox toys so we have learned to cover it when we are not using it.  We also learned that he has absolutely no recall when he got our our patio door one day without his leash!  He seemed to see/hear us calling him, but acted like it was play time and went down the road to visit a garage sale. So..we are being very careful around the door.

We are so happy that we adopted Barron.  He is such a great dog.  I think he is happy here as well. I think he
knows how much he is loved and how great it is to have a family.  He would tell you this himself but he is currently
sleeping at my feet.  Thank you to everyone at GSRAW for all the work you do.
