Dear Emma Rose,
You were found by a sweet lady named Sue, when your owners pushed you
out of their vehicle, and left you in the road alone. You were
petrified, running around in circles in the road, trying to figure out
what had just happened. Sue knew what happened, because she saw
everything. She saw them drive off, and leave you there. Thankfully
that's not the end of the story for you. Sue took you in and wanted to
keep you, but she didn't have the room. You were covered in ticks and
had sores on your elbows. The ticks explain why you contracted Lyme
disease. It is also evident that you were outside probably all of the
time because you also had Pannus. She e-mailed us in desperation to
come and get you to find you a great home. I volunteered to drive up to
Wisconsin Dells, meeting Sue 1/2 way, because you were from the border
of Minnesota and Wisconsin off I-94. You loved being in the truck, and
going for rides even though you had that bad experience of being pushed
out from one. You were forgiving. I cleaned you up, and took to the
vet's office, where you received your medication for Lyme and Pannus
disease. You came into my home, and made best friends with all three of
my children. You were my two year old son Jesse's first best friend.
He always put his arms around you, and he rested his head on your back
and said, "awe, your my best friend." My two daughters wanted to name
you. One wanted to call you Rosie, and the other one wanted your name
to be Emma. So I combined the two names, and you became Emma Rose. You
kissed us in record speed every day. I tried counting how many kisses
you would give in a minute, but I lost count at around 900. You were
loyal, obedient and loving all of the time. You were my shadow. You
waited on my bed for me, when I was at school. You would come running
as soon as you heard my voice. You made me feel appreciated, and loved
while I was going through one of the toughest times of my life, my
divorce. I needed you, and you needed me. You always watched me and
cared about me. You would cuddle up to me in bed, and I would have to
be careful not to pet you too much because you would get too excited,
and you couldn't stop giving affection. I loved that anyway, when you
would get excited over the littlest touch of affection. You made me
feel important. I'm sorry that you died after your spay surgery.
The doctor said you had a bleeding disorder, and he found blood, and
blood clots in your abdomen the next day. He said it may have been
caused by your Lyme disease. I thank God you were home with me, when
you passed. I thank God you weren't alone in the woods, or with your
old family. I know we love each other, and I'm glad I was there for you
when you needed me the most just as you were for me.
I will see you again and the wait is going to be long. For every day
your not with me, it's painful. It is my loss, because I know your in a
much better place. You did nothing wrong. You are happy, and watching
us every day. You are mine Emma, and I will always love, and miss you
even though I only knew you for a month. Thank you for spirit and your
love.
Yours,
Kyra |
