Fritz is really a sweet and gentle dog who aims to please. He is getting along great with both of the dogs foster home (a male GSD and a female Poodle). We love his shiny black coat and his size is perfect as well -not too big and not too small. We would guess he's about 40lbs and at 9 months old I would think he'll get much bigger. As with any young dog, he will definitely benefit from obedience classes to learn what humans want. Since coming to our home, we've been working on "come" and "sit" and he is getting it very well. We always have a pocket full of tasty treats and Fritz knows already, when I call him he'll get a treat and then when he sits as asked he’ll get another one. We are working on leash walking and jumping up on people (he's very gentle when he does it) Again, these are doggy etiquette rules that he will learn quickly from a good class. This pup will make a great companion - he's very dog and human friendly. He has met several new people and animals this week so far and is very friendly, submissive and eager to get to know new faces. Fritz is crated at night and during any absences. He initially barks and cries when put in the crate but settles within minutes. He will sleep through the night with no disturbances. We are also feeding his meals in the crate to enforce the idea that good things happen there. As you can see from the picture I've attached, he is fine with small dogs. He has not been cat tested, but we don’t think that would be a problem. The only issue I see is Fritz' jumping. Until that behavior is fixed, Fritz would probably be better off without small children in the home. Simply so he doesn't accidentally hurt someone. Fritz is healing from his neuter and will also be brought up to date with his vaccinations. After he recovers, he'll definitely be ready for his forever home. |
