Abby Lou is doing really well. She also has an additional name (that I gave her) which is Abby Dabby, sometimes just Dabby. She is such a sweet dog it is hard to believe she hard such a hard start. She is such an affectionate puppy and will actually curl up in Mark's lap. She is becoming more accustomed to people being in the house. At first she would bark uncontrollably and act threatening when in fact she was scared. We crated her and Loki in the bedroom on Christmas and New Year's Day because we had a whole lot of people in the house (38 on Christmas Day and 20 on New Years Day.) Mark brought both of them out on both holidays for a while and they did pretty good on Christmas and even better on New Years. We waited until the crowd thinned out so they wouldn't be overwhelmed. Overall things are going very well with both of them. Loki intimidates the heck out of Abby sometimes (i.e. if he goes out first he won't let her out the door) but he is getting better. I think it's a combination of redirecting him and the fact that he turned a year old on 12/29. Once they get outside she really gives him the business. She runs so much faster than him, which frustrates him, and sometimes she will knock him down in the snow and not let him up. Turn about is fair play! They both love being out in the snow. I am so glad we got both of them, and that GSRAW and all their fosters do the valuable work of placing them! Hope all is well with you! Lori and Mark |
