Hi!  My name is Madison.

Click here to see my video.

Maddie is a 6 month old shepherd/golden? mix who has recently been returned to rescue.  She has many wonderful qualities, she is calm and quiet in the house, very affectionate and snuggly when she knows and trusts you, housebroken, easily trainable, and responsive to your every request.   Maddie is submissive and easy going with the dogs in her foster home.

Maddie should not be in a home with cats, although she does well with the two in her foster home, she did injure a barn cat at her previous placement.

Now the challenging part....  Maddie is very shy outside the comfort zone of the immediate household.  She is fearful of most men, but has been able to bond with her new friend Stephen, who has only known her for a week.  With the right approach, she can become confident around males. Her usual reaction to her fear is to try to hide, cower, or escape to a safe place.  No aggression has ever been shown.  We have worked daily with car rides and short visits to various places.  She will need continuous extensive socialization  and introduction to a variety of new situations on almost a daily basis.  (This can be as simple as daily walks or car rides at first.)  She would benefit greatly from an obedience class once she gains some confidence.  Her new person must be committed to helping her overcome her shyness.  An adoptive home where someone is around most of the day would be ideal for her.  In return you will receive tons of affection, a buddy who wants to be with you every minute, and the most beautiful eyes gazing adoringly at you.

If you are willing to do the work, you will have the kind of bond with this dog that most people only dream of.
