Hi!  My name is Sammy.

I am a young boy that was abandoned at the Humane Society.  My owner bought me because when I was a baby, I was cute and cuddly; the usual story.  My owner then got rid of me when I grew too big.  Who would have thought that a dog could grow to be too big for his family?  Yes, I am guilty, my heart grew too big.  But that is the way that I am.  I am a pure German Shepherd and I didn't choose to be what I am. I am only 13 months old and I am close to 100 lbs already, and I may still be growing.  Despite my size, I am gentle, friendly and kind.  I look very intimidating and I will alert and protect my family (but a puppy inside).  I submit to other dogs, cats and especially children and people. Most dogs are given a gift; judge of character.
I live in my foster home with foster mom and three big and small children.  I also live with an 8 yr. old female German Shepherd and a male 5 yr. old Rottweiler mix. I think cats are unusual creatures and I leave the two cats alone in my foster home.
I will need a permanent home to live out my life where I will be loyal and your best friend.  I want to be by your side through good times and bad times.  I don't ever want to be given up for any reason again.  It breaks my heart.  I am neutered, up to date on my shots and microchipped.  Because I am a German Shepherd I will need daily exercise or given a job to do.  I love to go for walks every day; rain or shine, hot or cold.  I play with toy balls and love playing fetch.
If you are serious about having a loyal, loving, protective companion regardless of size, then please apply for me.  If you are experienced with my breed that helps, however it is not required for me.  I should go to dog training because I am super-smart and I learn quickly.  It would be perfect for us to bond quickly and we would both enjoy it.
