Spatzi (fna Trixie)
....... the better to smell you with, my Dear!

December 2006:
Spatzi is thriving and happy in our home.  Although her ears never did stand up, she's the best floppy-eared dog we know!  She has a great personality, very loving and compliant, and everyone loves her.  If only she would realize that at 85# she's too big to try to climb onto my lap!

Hi!!!  It's great to hear from you.  First of all, we did change her name.  It's now Spatzi-(shpaytzee).  She adjusted to it extremely well!  :)  I actually thought of the name myself-it is a European drink that consists of Coca-Cola and Orange soda mixed together!  When we were debating possible names for her, it just popped into my head.  Her coat is black and tannish orange in spots, so it reminded me of Coke and Orange! ;)  Neither of Spatzi's ears have stood up yet, but we're still hoping and waiting!  She is very pretty and weighs about 70 or 80 pounds-last time that we checked!  So, I would say she is a little smaller that Cosmo was when we picked Spatzi up.  She has a very "big" bark, and intimidates other full grown dogs on our street!  Spatzi also has a very powerful jaw.  She absolutely loves squeaky toys, but we can't find any that she won't rip apart! :) (we already have 2 victims).  She sits, lies down, and comes (usually) when we call.  She is still very mouthy, and pulls on the leash when we walk her.  (We even have an extending leash)!  But she obeys fairly well, and we love her very much!  :)  Oh, I forgot to mention that she is very fascinated by birds, or flying animals!  Whenever she sees them on a walk, she either tries to jump and chase them through the air, or she plainly sits down, and cocks her head while watching them!  It's really hysterical!  Well, not much else is new, and she is doing wonderful!!

                                 Sincerely,
                                                       Eva
