Vegas f/k/a Tomah

Updated 5/1/06:

Hi Dawn,

I just wanted to send you a quick update (and a little brag).  Vegas and I went to dog school this morning (at the GSD Club in Big Bend) and we had such a great class!  They had a rally course set up for us to try at the beginning.  I walked the course 2 times by myself while they explained it to me.  I tried it with Vegas twice and she did so great!  Everyone was amazed that a beginner dog did such a wonderful job.  She loved it too!  Her tail was going the whole time!  I am definitely going to get her into that class when it starts!

When we got down to business in class we started with healing and an automatic sit.  There were 2 other dogs in class (boys who are generally pretty quite, calm and well behaved) but they were just not getting the auto sits - Vegas and I were asked to "show them how it's done". The teacher said that we were doing it perfect!

I guess I am so excited because she is so loud and excitable in class with all those other dogs - and today she really shined and showed how smart she is.

Also, on a funny note - they had us leave our dog with another one of the owners and leave the building.  I went outside for a minute or two then came back in.  We were learning how to turn our back when the dog jumps at us out of excitement.  I turned my back and Vegas immediately turned around and sat with her back toward me - almost as if she were mimicking or copying me.  She did it again a 2nd time after she jumped and I turned away again.  The teacher said she had never seen anything like that and again said what a smart dog she is.

Thanks again for helping us get such a great & super smart dog!

Hi Dawn,

Vegas is still doing good. She let me sleep until 6:15 today :) Here are the new pictures I was telling you about. I never saw a dog sleep in such a tight ball! She seems to be crying less when in her crate and is calm when I get home. She is venturing around the house (without me) a little more so I think she is feeling more comfy here. The kids love her and I think she likes them too - they love to throw Vegas her balls and other toys. Tori (the 2 1/2 year old) loves to help feed her! I will update you again soon. Thanks again! Lisa
