Update 5/1/06 We at GSRAW wanted to tip our hats to Cupid, who recently got her Certified Therapy Dog certification! What a great honor for her! Congrats!! CUPID UPDATE 2/7/06
Well, it's been a year now since we pulled Cupid NKA
Steffie from AC ,,,,,,, her leg is completely healed and she is having
fun and enjoying life. She has completed 3 obedience classes and is
working on her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) degree and plans to go on for
her therapy dog certification. Cupid loves children and she and her Mom
plan to visit sick kids in the hospital and try to put smiles on their
faces. She wants to give back for all the love and generosity she
received in her time of need. She loves traveling to Northern Wisconsin
in the family RV and is learning how to camp and swim. Life is good. |

Cupid Update 3/5/05 Cupid is doing better. Her pneumonia has subsided to just some minor coughing and sneezing, and the bump on her rump from the fluid sack where the pin had started to loosen is going down a bit. The staples were removed from her incision this week and x-rays showed that the leg is healing nicely. It will be about 3 more weeks before the pin is scheduled to be removed from her leg, but baring any further complications, the prognosis is very good. Cupid sends a big THANK YOU for all your prayers, loving thoughts and donations. It has been a long road for this little gal, but she is so grateful she has not had to travel it alone. We all THANK YOU so very much. Check out my new pictures below!! |

Cupid update 2/28/05 Cupid went to her regular vet today, and things are looking up a bit. The staples came out of her incision, and although the pin has loosened up a bit, no additional surgery is recommended at this time. She needs to be kept quiet for the next few weeks - and that isn't easy for a fun-loving 8 mo old pup. She may need to spend more time mildly sedated, and, of course, that isn't the best thing for her pneumonia, but it does seem to be improving. She's not out of the woods, but holding her own for the moment. |

Cupid update 2/27/05 Cupid's URI has escalated to full-blown pneumonia, but she is responding well to medication and therapy, and is receiving excellent care. Cupid had to make a trip to the emergency vet this weekend as the pin in her leg is loosening up and attempting to work its way out. X-ray's showed that the leg is healing, but she may need additional surgery. We will know more when Cupid sees her regular vet surgeon on Monday. Through all this Cupid's spirits remain high and she continues to be her sweet, gentle, loving self. You just can't get this little gal down:) Please continue to keep Cupid in your thoughts and prayers, and, of course, donations to help cover her increasing medical expenses are always appreciated. THANK YOU |

As you can see.... Cupid has NO problem
allowing herself to be pampered.....

Cupid update 2/21/05 Cupid has had her surgery and is recuperating with round the clock care from her foster Moms Patti and Heather. She couldn't be getting better care. She is still battling an upper respiratory infection, but her loving attitude remains unchanged. She has just started to walk and put some weight on her leg, and we will know more when the pin comes out in about 6 weeks. Her prognosis is good. We have discovered that she is dog and cat friendly and very housetrained. Keep checking the website for further updates. Cupid sends her love to all her cyber friends who have sent her prayers, loving thoughts and donations. THANK YOU so very much! |

They call me Cupid because I was rescued from Animal Control on Valentine's Day AND because I am so full of love. My story is pretty sad. My people didn't care enough about me and let me run loose and I was hit by a car and broke my leg and the driver never even stopped. A good Samaritan picked me up off the street and took me to Animal Control where I had to stay for 7 days waiting to see if anybody came looking for me. Of course, no one did. The people at Animal Control were really nice to me and put my leg in a splint, but, as you can see, I was really scared there. When my holding period was up and I was officially unwanted, some nice people from GSRAW rescue came and got me and took me immediately to a vet. I started to perk up at this point cuz I knew things were looking up. I thought if I played the cute card and licked them all the way to the vet’s office life was bound to get better. And it did! Wow!! All the friendly people at the vet office! Like I was somebody special and they all were really glad to see me. I started to wag my tail even though it hurt to walk. They said they would take x-rays of my leg to determine what needed to be done to fix it. The x-rays weren't pretty. They said it was a really bad break and I would need to see an orthopedic surgeon. Somebody even said the leg might have to come off. That's a scary thought! But, one of the nice people from rescue drove my x-rays all over town and finally found a doctor that said he could probably fix me, but it would be expensive… really expensive. But, my friend from rescue told me that I had a lot more friends out there in the cyber world that I had never even met that might be willing to help me. She told me that if I told the world what I've been through and how much love I have to give, people might be generous enough to donate toward my surgery. Please, PLEASE, P L E A S E help me save my leg. Please send me some love and show your generosity so I can find a happier life and run around and play. My rescue friend also told me that when I am better, they will find me a loving and caring home so I won't be left out on the streets anymore. Please help
me! Your loving Cupid

She is approx. 8 mos old, UTD, HW neg., microchipped and will be spayed shortly. We would appreciate any financial help for Cupid to save her leg.
