Bare and Daisy

I am a volunteer with GSRAW and Daisy was my first dog.  Ever.  Well....  my family had a Sheltie when I was growing up - but there is a far cry between a Sheltie and a GSD!!!  Daisy has truly been a "learning experience".  She's a dog that needs a job - and I wasn't giving her one!  We got kicked out of our first obedience class because she was too disobedient.  That was so confusing!!!  How can I train her if I can't take her to class??  There were countless emails to my fellow GSRAW members who were SO patient, listening to all of my questions and complaints and fears and worries......   Then my angel of mercy appeared!  Adele Bodden has become the default trainer for a lot of members of GSRAW and quite a few of the dogs we've adopted out also!  She saved both of our lives, I think!  After a year of weekly training and a LOT of hard work, Daisy has become a wonderful young lady.  My trainer and several members of the rescue used to say to me: "Once you've trained Daisy, all other dogs will seem easy!!"

Enter......  BARE!

Bare was found by some VERY good Samaritans in Grant County.  They called rescue and I went out to get him.  My husband and I fell in love with this cuddly guy right away (it's rather unavoidable) and our 2 1/2 year old female GSD took to him too....  so here he stays.  Bare came to us at about the age of 8 months.  He's feeling right at home now - has settled into his routine and his new life.

One of Bare's favorite "tricks" is to jump up on the door if he is inside and we are outside.  Well.....  that can pose quite a problem when he locks the door and my husband and I are both outside!!!  The first time we had to call a locksmith and wait while we watched Bare have a field day with all of the "no-no" things in the house.  Once Daisy ran past the window and Bare followed - but all four feet were off the ground!!!  He had a look of absolute GLEE on his wrinkly puppy face as he soared past the window.  My husband and I looked at each other with "Did you see THAT??" looks on our faces and then just broke into laughter.  We now have a key hidden.....  but I won't tell you where. :-)

Bare is a joy.  So loving, giving and loyal.  We will treasure our time together!

So far....  except for his normal puppy behaviors, Bare has been a breeze to train!  Just like they told me with Daisy.....  this one seems easy!
