Emmi has grown from a painfully shy puppy into a happy socialized Shepherd. She loves going to the dog park. She still acts protective when people come to the house, but we're working on proper manners. She knows several tricks, the funniest of which is flopping on her side and kicking her leg in the air when you point your finger at her and say "Bang." She likes to help with yard work by biting the leaf rake or, while Brenda mows the back yard, Emmi follows right behind her and pokes her in the butt with her nose.
We've had a few medical scares with Emmi. Her puppy kindergarten instructor thought she had hip dysplaysia, but it ended up being panosteitis. Then she developed a growth on the underside of her tongue that we thought could be cancer, but it ended up just being a calcium growth. Now she has a black spot on the top of her tongue as a "scar" from her surgery. And this summer her allergies are really bad (for the humans too!)
So thanks for bringing us together! We can't remember what life was like without her.
