Heidi
is home...
December 1, 2003 Heidi came to me as a
foster. My first mission as a
new volunteer for GSRAW and I didn't make it a week when I ended up
adopting her. I agreed to
foster her because I figured she wouldn't stay long, lots of people love
puppies and less chance for me to fall in love with her.
Well that was my mind set anyways. I had Kim post her on
the website to be adopted out. I
received an email that they had found a potential home in Illinois for
her. My stomach sank to the
floor. I must have read that
email 3 - 4 times. I just
couldn't do it. I emailed the
group and told them she is already home, I can't let her go.
She is just precious.
She makes these adorable grunt sounds when she's tired and loves to
snuggle any time of the day. She is also quite the drama queen that it's so hard not to
laugh at her when something scares her.
She comes running in my lap crying because one of the dogs got to
rough with her or if the cats would come to close to her.
Now she plays with one of my younger cats so she's not scare of
them anymore, but she tends to cry when the get to close to her when she's
lying down. |

Heidi was adopted by Ann in November '03. We will have pictures of all three dogs and a Happy Ending story soon! October 17, 2003 I want to thank Kim
for her patience and endless emails to her about Jack.
I adopted Jack from GSRAW in Sept 2003.
It was a very rough start when he first came. He had not been with me for more than 24hrs when I called Kim
to come and get him. All he
wanted to do was eat my 3 cats, I wasn’t sure I could handle a 92 pound
dog, there were just so many excuses why I didn’t think Jack was the
best fit. As I was talking to
Kim that morning, it was like Jack knew that something was wrong. He sat in front of me turning his head from side to side with
these sad eyes trying to tell me please don’t send me back, I really am
a good boy. I hung up with
her waiting for her call back on when he would go back.
I was explaining to Jack why this wasn’t going to work and how
sorry I was. His head turned from side to side and gave me kisses. All he
wanted was a chance. I called
Kim back and told her that I would stick it out for a week. (The kisses
did it) Here we are 6 weeks
later and what an absolute joy it is to have him.
We are still battling with the cats, which he can’t seem to
understand why he can’t just try one to see how it tastes. He yells at his sister Sasha because he can’t catch her and
she never lets him have the ball. She
loves to weave in an out because it’s harder for him to catch her.
Poor guy already went sliding head first down the hill trying to
catch up to her. He tripped
over his own feet thinking he was just as fast.
(She’s half his size) All she does is tease him because she knows
that she’s fast as lighting. Even though she’s a big tease with the toys, they love each
very much. He lets her eat
his food, take toys out of his mouth, but then he yells at her wagging
that big tail knocking everything over in the house.
If the yelling doesn’t work, he’ll lay down waiting for her and
he gives her kisses and Sasha LOVES kisses, he waits for her to drop the
toy and he quick grabs it and tries to run really fast.
Sasha gets pretty mad when that happens.
Jack doesn’t get to keep the toy for very long because he lets
her have it back and it starts all over again.
I am so glad that I
stuck it out. If I hadn’t,
I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to find out what a wonderful dog he
is. Everyday he comes more to
life, and that in itself is the most rewarding feeling I could ever have. Thank you again for
all your hard work! |
