Max is doing great. He is a perfect addition to our family. He had his check up with the vet yesterday. Everything looked great. He is 81 lbs !!! But for such a big guy he really is a gentle giant. We are all in love with him. He seems to be just as attached to us. I am greeted every morning and every night with gigantic sloppy kisses. We haven't gone to the dog park yet but Max really enjoys walks and trips in the car. He also likes having the run of the yard with the boys. We are going to check out some obedience classes this weekend, as Max does still need work on some of his manners. We are also working on his housebreaking. He has only had a couple of accidents which is to be expected. He is fine when we are around but will go in the house if you are not there. He is such a smart guy I don't think he will take long to catch on. Can't blame him for not knowing the house isn't like an outside kennel which he was used to. He seems to be enjoying being part of the group all the time. He sleeps on the floor on his bed in my room at night. He really enjoys meeting new people and everyone just loves him. He doesn't even bark at the 3 dogs next door when they are all barking at him. He goes right up to the fence and says hello. We will send some pictures soon. We also learned he is not destructive (except with socks). We felt he maybe to big to crate, so we set up our laundry room with his bed and toys etc with a gate up when we had to work last Thursday. Well the gate was no match for him. I had asked him when I left to please not eat the house:). He listened, he went to the playroom and played with all of the kids toys. He tossed them all over but never chewed on one of them. So all and all he has been really easy to get settled right in. I can't believe anybody didn't want him anymore. Ok well I have bragged enough for now. We will update more soon. Thanks Kim & family |
