Onyx

Update 4/20/06

Matt & Adele:  We just want to thank you so much for deciding that we were the right family for Onyx. Two years ago on April 11 (Easter Sunday of 2004), we signed the adoption papers and took her home. I remember how scared she was in the back seat of our car and how it took her eight hours to come out of her crate that day. Two years ago, getting her to walk to the end of the driveway was a major accomplishment. She has come such a long way, and is now quite the family dog! Our baby Dylan is now 8 months old, and the two of them adore each other. Onyx can't stop kissing him! When things get too loud or intense, she just gets up and walks back to her room to be alone.

So again, thank you, thank you, thank you! She's our Easter girl!  Hope you enjoy the pictures!

A letter to Onyx's foster parents:

Hi Matt & Adele!

Our apologies for not having written lately.  I'm finally on summer vacation and now have the time.  I wrote you a long, very detailed email a few days ago, but right before I sent it, I somehow lost the message.  Therefore, I'm going to make this message brief.

Onyx is doing extremely well.  She weighs in at a whopping 50 pounds--all muscle and fur.  She absolutely loves to go for walks, and she is very good natured, intelligent, and quite obedient.  Today she started obedience classes at the Milwaukee Dog Training Club.  We couldn't be happier with her and it is hard to imagine our lives without her.

Greg and I are getting married in August, and we will need to board Onyx for several days.  Do you have any openings August 20 through the 25 or 26?  Please let us know if you can accommodate her.  It would be interesting to see how she does with you and how much she remembers.  Every once in a while we'll say "Griffin" and her ears perk up!

I'm attaching two pics from when we first got her from you.  It's our first attempt at sending pictures as attachments.  If you can open them, please let us know so we can take and send more recent pictures.

Hope you are having a good summer!

Gretchen (& Greg)
