Sadie
After the first night:
All went extremely well - she's a PRIZE!!!  Thank you so very much for matching us up!

Since she had no tag, Ron found a lightweight, glow-in-the-dark key chain.  We put an address label ne one side & I put her name & our phone # in permanent marker on the other.  I never even thought of not seeing her when we let her out at night.  It worked perfectly.  She sticks like glue to us.  Sabrina even drops her ball in front of her to "share".  Sab. doesn't give up her ball to just anyone!!!  Sadie just sniffs it & walks away, but has a ball chasing Sabrina when she runs for it.

She slept near her quilt on my side of the bed most of the night.  Early this morning I laid down next to her & rubbed her tummy for a while, then we all went outside, Ron & I drank coffee on the deck while they ran, got brushed, clipped a few toenails (want to do it all gradually), & just had a good time.  She's a little skittish with Ron once in awhile, but otherwise goes up & kisses him, often.

I'll keep you posted.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Mary

Update 08/18/05:
Well, we are sure our precious Sadie has been beaten.  She is even skittish with me outside now.  We're sure she was beaten with a flyswatter.  We have so many flies lately & if we just grab a swatter she flies down to the basement.  I think she probably was kept in the dark basement, 'cause she slithers down there often.  The other day I got out a yardstick to make a sign & she bolted out of sight.

We're hugging her constantly, kissing her, moving slowly around her.  I've been doing the bonding exercise I learned at class with Sabrina.  You tie the leash around your waist,  just long enough so they are at your side at all times - 1/2 hr. per day at least.  When you sit, they sit, etc.  She hops on the couch next to us & sleeps relaxed, at night she sleeps right next to me on her quilt - I lie down next to her for awhile before I get into bed.

Sabrina is excellent with her, wants to share her toys, drops them in front of her, she doesn't even know what to do with them.

She's sleeping next to my leg right now.  We LOVE her dearly & will do anything to get her through this.  We keep hugging her & telling her this is her forever home & she doesn't have to ever be afraid again.

If you have any input, let me know.  This is a true rescue, I wonder what this poor, precious girl has been through.  She's never barked yet,  I wonder if she knows how.

Thanks again for this precious dog - we will get her to her true potential.
Mary
