Samson

Update 6/7/06:

Rachel,

It's been a long time but wanted to get in touch to let you know that Samson is doing well and thriving!  We just had a baby in February and Samson is his #1 protector.  Literally Sam sleeps by Gabe's crib and let's us know whenever he begins to stir.  He treats Gabe as if he were his own pup.  Whenever Sam walks by the baby he gives him a big lick in the face.

Our other dog Lucy and Sam are now the very best of friends and cry whenever the other one isn't around.  Lucy was sick in October and spent a week in the hospital.  We didn't get a night of sleep because Sam paced and whined constantly.  He wouldn't eat and was just depressed. As soon as Lucy came home he was back to eating and playing as usual. He was very gentle with Lucy until she was healed and is now faithfully at her side every waking minute.

Sam has grown quite a bit from when we got him last summer.  He is now 130 pounds of pup and the top of his head is at my elbow.  I've attached a photo though it doesn't do him justice!  He's a gorgeous dog and has been an absolutely fantastic addition to our home!

Thanks!

Amy

Rachel,

Sorry I haven't gotten back in touch but it's been a crazy week as I'm sure you can imagine.  Samson is doing great!  He loves his new home and we certainly love having him with us.  Lucy is in doggy heaven as she has someone to wrestle with and boss around.  He might be the bigger dog but she definitely wears the pants in this family!  Otis has settled down a bit and actually lets Samson smell him on occasion - he's still not totally in love with him but is at least tolerating him.  He has had a few accidents but I think that they are more our fault than his.  He's such a good boy and we are just so thrilled to have him.  Talk about a loving little guy!  He's still eating all of his food at one sitting and is really interested in eating Lucy's as well but seems to know that he's not supposed to - not that that always stops him!  Lucy is a little intimidated by his eating habits so she's shied away from eating at the same time - go figure!

Anyway, please know that he is thriving and is making us extremely happy.  Like we said you are welcome to come and visit him anytime you'd like!  I've attached a few pictures which a little bit grainy but you can at least see he's pretty content.  We'll send more with our digital once we have some time!

Thanks for everything,
Amy
