Tamu

Tamu and his new kitty Rory!

Update 04/04/06:

Hi Mandi!

It's been a while since I've updated you on our lover boy Tamu. He is still the most amazing dog. He loved the snow over the winter. After one of the first snows, we went across the street to the park and he sprinted back and forth for about 15 minutes. After that he rolled around and made snow doggie angels. Did I tell you that for Christmas we got him a kitty named Rory?  As you can see in the pic, the two of them get along well!

His ears are doing very well. We haven't had any problems with them since the series (3) of vet appts to clear them up. The vet had a few follow ups with him, and they are still clear. Personally, I think a few of those follow ups were just to see Tamu. When we go there, she usually brings anyone who is working into the room to see Tamu.

We took Tamu in for a grooming. Something we've never done before. With the (somewhat) warmer weather, he was shedding like mad! He really seemed to enjoy it. Especially with everyone gushing over him. We took him to Petsmart (his fav store). They did an amazing job. His coat looks so glossy. It has cut down a little on the shedding.

The boys love to play chase with him. Our youngest, Adam, sometimes gets annoyed with him. Usually when Tamu is begging food from him. Tamu is a good sport though. When Adam yells "no begging Mu-Mu, Tamu just moves on to the next person.. :-)

Below is a pic of Tamu and our-oops-his cat Rory. Cuddling in our bed.

Hope all is well!

Update 08/24/05:
Hi Mandi.

Just wanted to send you a few of the many pics we have of Tamu and an update. He seems to be adjusting so well! It's been a lot easier than we thought. Tamu and Brevan (our 4 yr old) have become quick buddies. Adam (the 1 1/2 yrs old) seems to like him too, but he sure gets mad when Tamu goes anywhere near his plate. He starts to tell him how it is: nononononono, Mumu (that's how he says tamu). He has made quick friends with our neighbors dog Remi. He likes their cat too, but the cat isn't too sure about him yet.

We're flirting (for now) with the idea of getting another dog so Tamu has company during the day. Who knows, maybe a cat.....

Tamu must know I'm emailing you. He just nudged my hand. I think he wants me to tell you hi.

Well, we're off to bed.  Just wanted to give you an update.

Paula
PS if you do come across any dog that you think might get along with Tamu, please let us know.

Hi Mandi

Just wanted to let you know that Tamu is adapting very well to his new home.  It feels like he has been here forever!  I came home Wednesday and found him lounging on the couch, feet up in the air!!   :-)  Friends and neighbors cannot believe how gentle he is for such a huge dog!  They claim that Tamu makes their own dogs look like toy poodles.  We take him on a 1.5-2 mile walk every day along with playing in the yard first thing in the morning - even before the kids get up.  He is the perfect fit for our family.  We've found out he absolutely loves to ride in the car.  I get done at noon on Wednesdays.  I came home to take him for a walk.  I needed to get something out of the car first.  I open up the door and in he goes.  He ends up sitting on one of the car seats.  I open up the back door, and he goes to the front.  I open up the front door, and he goes all the way to the rear of the truck.  I open up the gate, and back up front he goes.  After about a minute, he agrees to get out and walk.  I couldn't stop laughing.  After the walk, he rode with me to pick the boys up from daycare.  It seemed to me that leaving and coming back to the same house gave him a sense of 'my home'.  He suddenly became even more playful, just being goofy!  I really cannot imagine someone giving him up.  He is so lovable!!  The kids adore him.  Brevan talks about him all the time and little Adam calls him "moo".  I'll be sending pictures within the next week.  His ears are doing good and we'll be setting up an appt to introduce him to our vet.

Thanks again Mandi!
Paula
