Hi, I’m Tonka! Yes, a front end loader, to be specific! I love to eat just about anything! I came to be a “Happy Endings” dog this past month when I was adopted by my foster family, Eric, Remy, and Ellie. I have spent a lot of time with Ellie these past weeks and got to know a lot about my new owners. She told me that I was just the dog they were looking for, one that could spend time with her during long days and keep her on her toes. She also told me that I needed to learn how to play ball and Frisbee with Eric. Boy, did I show her. I can play ball so well that when the ball gets caught under the couch, Eric will fetch it for me. And, when I get a hold of the Frisbee, Eric will chase me around and around till he gets tired. Ellie also told me that I should show Eric how much I like water, since there are lots of lakes that we will swim at this summer. I told Ellie, “I can do that, with a little training and a place to swim, that is!” She said, “Oh, you’ll get that opportunity,” and told me of a river that we would take long walks near. So one day, after the snow melted, Eric, Ellie, and I just happened upon this river and I showed Eric that I could swim! (I learned that calm water is not a solid surface and that it is very icy cold this time of year.) Also, Ellie told me, “Eric and Remy had a sad event recently happen to them so you need to be very flexible and on your best behavior because we will be going on a short trip and meet lots of people.” I told her again, “You can count on me.” So, we stayed at a hotel during a family funeral and while there, I showed Ellie that it was better to tinkle on a towel than the carpet! Bravo! And, Eric and Remy were also very impressed that I actually had proper manners with children as well as others during this event. In all, I couldn’t have asked for a better home. I am not yet Ellie’s size, but since I got here I put on about ten pounds in the first month. I go on two walks a day with Ellie and have a super duper large yard for game playing and relaxation. I look forward to more ball and Frisbee games, as well as, swimming during the summer trips up north with Eric, Remy and Ellie. Thank you German Shepherd Rescue Alliance of Wisconsin for my new family and home. |
