Volunteer Opportunities

The following is a list of volunteer needs of GSRAW.

FOSTER HOMES:
Take a rescue dog into your home, give it love, walk it, and help it to learn leash manners and other basic commands, housetrain if necessary, and help find a suitable adoptive home. GSRAW pays for veterinary care.

SHELTER DOGS:
Return calls to humane societies to get information on a particular dog they want to send to rescue, and take photos of shelter dogs in need for the website. For qualified volunteers who have experience in the field, evaluating temperaments of dogs at humane societies or dogs being surrendered.

TRANSPORTING DOGS:
Transportation from shelters to foster homes.

ADOPTION VOLUNTEERS:
Contacting potential adopters to get a feel for what they are looking for in a dog and talking to them about what dog may be the best suited for their particular situation.

OTHER VOLUNTEER EVENTS:
Staff booths at events.
Do promo work, like putting up flyers of available dogs at various locations.
Contact local newspapers about free ads.
Anything you have experience in that will contribute to our effort.

There is a very interesting article on the Dog Owner's Guide website about joining a rescue.  Please read it if you  are thinking of getting into rescue!

If you are interested in volunteering with GSRAW in any way, please fill out a volunteer application.

In order to make this process as convenient as possible, our web site has two ways in which you can apply to be a volunteer.

Our Electronic Application is an electronic form that you can fill out online and submit.

Our Printable Application is a printable form that you can print, fill out, and then mail to us.
