Volunteer Opportunities

The following is a list of volunteer needs of GSRAW.

FOSTER HOMES:

URGENT: we are currently looking for people with GSD and/or dog training experience to help with fostering. Do you have dog training experience or have you successfully raised GSDs? Can you take a rescue into your home, give it love, walk it, train appropriate manners, and other basic commands, housetrain if necessary, and help find a suitable adoptive home. It's a very rewarding volunteer opportunity! GSRAW pays for veterinary care.

SHELTER DOGS:
Return calls to humane societies to get information on a particular dog they want to send to rescue, and take photos of shelter dogs in need for the website. For qualified volunteers who have experience in the field, evaluating temperaments of dogs at humane societies or dogs being surrendered.

TRANSPORTING DOGS:
Transportation from shelters to foster homes.

ADOPTION VOLUNTEERS:
Contacting potential adopters to get a feel for what they are looking for in a dog and talking to them about what dog may be the best suited for their particular situation.

OTHER VOLUNTEER EVENTS:
Staff booths at events.
Do promo work, like putting up flyers of available dogs at various locations.
Contact local newspapers about free ads.
Anything you have experience in that will contribute to our effort.
