Our Mission

URGENT: we are currently looking for people with GSD and/or dog training experience to help with fostering. Do you have dog training experience or have you successfully raised GSDs? Can you take a rescue into your home, give it love, walk it, train appropriate manners, and other basic commands, house train if necessary, and help find a suitable adoptive home. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can save. It’s that simple.

Please fill out and submit a volunteer application and mark it "want to train a dog"

We saw Bear (fna GUS) on your web-site and he looked so lost. We read his profile and that is just what he was, lost. We just could not understand why anyone would just leave him! When we met him, he turned out to be so sweet so we decided to give him a home.

Bear is a wonderful dog!! THANK YOU GSRAW!!!

Happy Endings

If you think you are ready to provide a loving permanent home for a GSD we encourage you to review our adoption process and complete an application.

GSRAW views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and finding homes for displaced and unwanted German Shepherd Dogs throughout Wisconsin and further, if needed.  GSRAW has a long-term dedication to this breed and its fair and humane treatment.

Our organization provides rescue, support, and placement of unwanted or displaced German Shepherd Dogs regardless of age, size, sex and health.  GSRAW will seek work with shelters, veterinary offices and private individuals to achieve these goals.

GSRAW is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.  All donations are tax deductible.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered, brought up to date on shots and tested for heart worm prior to placement into their forever homes.

Did you know that 800 dogs are euthanized per hour in the United States alone and 60% of all dogs surrendered to shelters never make it out?  The good news is that rescue organizations continue to make a difference in lowering the percentages of dogs euthanized each year.  GSRAW strives to advance the cause of rescuing and rehabilitating German Shepherd Dogs and we are proud to say that we are currently in our 12th year and going strong.
